When Applications fail

Datacenter
Applications often give warning signs before failure. Application Monitoring is not binary. If an application reaches this state the down time and the cost to recover impacts the bottom line significantly. Application health is something that simple monitoring cannot take into account.

Will your monitoring solution provide for

  • Analyzing how many mysql transactions your system is currently handling? how many slow queries are affecting customer response time?
  • Analyzing how many internal messages are consumed by your application and providing a remedial?
  • Analyzing to see if the back-end processing is satisfactory?
  • Checking if the application is generating too many warnings or errors?
  • checking if emails are sent in a timely manner?
  • Nudging stuck processes?
  • ...

Planning to move to the cloud or already there?

Moving to the cloud allows you to alleviate the needs to maintain a physical infrastructure by using an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider. You can focus on the development of your application, but it does not alleviate you from monitoring the components of your application.

These type of providers may offer basic monitoring services: server is up/down, web server is up/down. These services are geared towards identifying only critical events or in deciding when more instances need to be started due to heavy load.

But this does not monitor your application, before it reaches critical levels.

Don’t settle

Application Monitoring
At Avonsys we provide real people to address and solve your application monitoring solutions. While other companies provide you only with automatic monitoring we provide people and the latest application monitoring services. At our Network Operations Center (NOC), our team of highly skilled Linux/Windows System Administrators and Network Engineers review the alerts, evaluate their level of severity and act based on your procedures. We work for you and with you!

if you skimp on your maintenance coverage, you will face a real threat of network downtime. How much does a company lose if its e-commerce site is down for 15 minutes? How much does it cost the state if a tollbooth isn’t working? If an aircraft doesn’t take off on schedule? All these scenarios manifest themselves in a diminished ability to compete. Reducing the number of incidents by active monitoring of the wear and tear of your application and the time it takes to solve these incidents can be monumental from a business perspective.

Application Monitoring is more than a ping or a heartbeat. You have moved your application to the Cloud but the tools to keep your application up and reliable don’t exist there.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know if your application is starting to fail before it actually does?

These days everyone is looking to lower the cost of application deployment. Companies are pushing their applications into the Cloud to save money.

What is the value of putting your application in the Cloud if there is no one there to watch it?

We are here to help you set up a monitoring environment (see the technology below) and we will assign our staff to monitor your application and respond to the alerts so that your application avoids reaching a critical level where your customers may notice.

Don't settle for half a solution when Avonsys can provide you the whole solution at a fraction of the cost with added benefits over our competition:

Awesome Monitoring

What you need is someone to look after your systems, not a machine! We do just that. We add the human touch to automatic monitoring.

We will monitor as many services and components your machine is running. We will check alerts and, if you have authorized us, we will fix the problem, otherwise we will contact you or any person(s) designated by you for a prompt re-establishment of the service.

Dedicated Monitoring

There will come a time when the service above is not enough, and you will want to have dedicated staff 24/7 to do the monitoring and other related tasks (compile health status reports, do some event processing,...).

For instance if you want one person on call at any time 24/7, we will set up a team of 5 people that will work round the clock to ensure one person is always looking over your operations. If you want 2 persons on call at any time, we will build a team of 10 people and so on... You will know who is working for you. They will better adapt to your system than anyone else if they are dedicated to your operations. This gives you a level of confidence and builds a real working relationship.

Our pricing is dependent on the type of setup your company has but we are highly competitive and highly flexible, and we have unique advantages over our competitors. You'll get some real savings by working with us while maintaining a high level of quality. These are some of the reasons why Genius.com has chosen us.

The Technology

We are proficient with several tools to monitor systems and we can help you install them at your site. We have great expertise using Nagios/Cacti or Zabbix, but we can work with any other tools. The paragraphs below just give an overview of some of the tools which are used for this type of work.

Nagios/Cacti

Nagios provides monitoring of processes, applications and parameters of various platforms: MS-Windows, GNU/Linux, Mac OSX, Cisco,...

We alert you via several means, voice, text, and report the problem in a ticketing system, so it can be tracked and fixed. You have then a statistical overview of the health of your system, and your engineers can prioritise the issues.

We also monitor performance of systems, bandwidth usage, CPU load,...

Zabbix

Zabbix is another popular monitoring tool which includes graphing capabilities. It is more database driven, which allows to configure it entirely via the web. Moreover it has discovery functions which allows to pick up new machines automatically and start to monitor them. In a cloud environment where instances are started and stopped based on load this is quite convenient.

The Warranty

We will work with you to set up a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual that we prefer to call Red Book, which will include common procedures and escalation paths. You are guaranteed to be quickly alerted of any major issue. We can use several methods, VoIP linked to your PBX, Skype, Jabber or other IM, e-mail, pager, electric phone. Your choice. It can also be a combination of all the above.

We are efficient and competitive.
