Customer Success Story - RSYC
Project: Website Design, Search Engine Optimization
Name: Royal Suva Yacht Club
Website URL: http://www.rsyc.org.fj
Description: The Club was founded in 1932 and its legal status under the title "Royal" was granted in 1950 by Sir Allan Lascelles, Secretary to King George VI.The administration of the club is managed by three to four people who are not familiar with Internet.
RSYC had a website which was difficult to manage by its administrators and hence didn't contain the right and updated information for its members. The clubs website was outdated and the club had their own customized CMS which didn't actually allow regular easy updates and many valuable information for the RSYC members were not available, such as the weather news was missing for mariners and surfers. They wanted their site to be updated often with news and those updates should be able to be done by anyone with no special computer skills. The website traffic was very low and they needed to make their site more popular.
Upon discussions with us, we came up with a strategy of redoing their website using a more popular and robust platform, Wordpress. Wordpress being a tried and proven CMS. It comes out of the box, with capabilities friendly to search engines. Utilizing tried and proven technologies like PHP and MySQL, the site turned out to be more efficient.
What they have now is a robust site utilizing open source software which can be edited by any of the RSYC staff with little training. If you are just a Bebo or Facebook user you no doubt will have little trouble navigating through the admin interface of RSYC website.
RSYC staff are now easily updating the site regularly with news and updates and hence it has become more of value to its members and site visitors. With proper implementation of SEO techniques the site is now better placed on search engines.
