Monitoring

Avonsys monitors the various sites of the Tikiwiki Free and Open source Software Community for availability.

We do not do a simple automatic monitoring of each site, but each alert generated is checked by our staff and then the site is fixed or an advisory is sent to the people hosting the site.

We monitor for host availability as well as site availability (code error, database fault, ...)

"Various TikiWiki.org subdomains are distributed amongst several servers and various community members share the maintenance tasks.

Avonsys has been monitoring our servers and I have been very impressed. Having humans deal with the monitoring has been hugely efficient. They can be coordinating on IRC with whomever in the community happens to be available at that time. Avonsys has also been very helpful to tailor tests to specific issues we were having, for example checking for certain content on a page, and not just that the server is up. This has helped us pinpoint issues with TikiWiki as an application, not just our hosting setup.

I never knew how unreliable our setup was until the fine folks at Avonsys would systematically report issues. While we still have the occasional issue, with this information, we have improved our infrastructure and enhanced end user experience."
